Early morning after having breakfast at your accommodation at around 0730hrs or according to your preferred time, you will drive straight to Tarangire National Park which takes approximately 40 minutes. The word Tarangire means the river of warthogs. Tara means river and ngire means warthog, therefore its meaning is the river of warthogs. Tarangire National Park is famous for the largest African elephants as well as the huge baobab trees and the mini-wildlife migration with more than 250,000 animals. It is one of the largest parks with an area of more than 2600 square kilometers. The park is home to over 500 species of birds, including some species which are endemic to Tanzania.
You will also get a unique opportunity to see different animal species such as large numbers of impalas, elands, giraffes, buffaloes, Thompson’s gazelle and gerenuk. Other animals that you will encounter are such as the wildebeests and zebras, leopards, lions, hyenas, and cheetah that seem to be popular within the southern open areas. You will be served with hot picnic lunch in the afternoon at around 1230hrs. After that you will explore the park’s beauty especially during the dry season between June to October where the only source of water at this place is the Tarangire river which attracts many animals such as wildebeests, elephants, gazelles, zebras and hartebeest, buffaloes plus various predators like lions that come to drink.
